Celine Vipiana established her eponymous brand in 1945, when she was still under thirty years old, shortly after the end of World War II. Initially, Celine focused on providing made-to-measure shoes for children, but her boutiques quickly expanded throughout Paris. Impressed by her talent, esteemed clients urged Celine to create 'haute couture' footwear for themselves. Encouraged by this early triumph, she extended her services to women as well. In the 1960s, Celine introduced a line of leather goods and accessories, which paved the way for the development of the 'sportswear' collection in 1968. It was during this period that CELINE became synonymous with Parisian elegance, known for its craftsmanship and the use of premium materials. Presently, the brand's artistic director, Hedi Slimane, reiterates this same spirit through the ateliers situated at 16 Rue Vivienne. By incorporating ready-to-wear garments and accessories, his 'haute couture' designs exemplify the meticulous possibilities of French craftsmanship within the CELINE wardrobe. To honour this heritage, the iconic 'triomphe' monogram has made a comeback, serving as a symbol of the CELINE house since 1971.
